commandment 1

Hello, today I found the first commandment!

And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony.
(Colossians 3:14)

I love how love binds us all to one another and to Jesus Christ! And isn’t it also amazing how God sent his one and only son(Jesus Christ) to die for us on a cross! if that isn’t love nothing is!

You are loved!

promise 10

Today I have found another one of God’s many, many promises for us! So here it is.

Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive.  (Colossians 3:11-13)

I think this is telling us that in Christ we have equality.  There isn’t any more Greek or Jew, black or white, man or woman because Christ overwhelms all that outside stuff.   There is no need for denominations like Baptist, Presbyterian and so on.  We are children of God and  that’s our identity. I like this.  There is also instruction in these verses for us.  Because we are all equal in Christ then we should be loving, patient, and forgiving toward each other.

What do you think?

You are loved!

promise nine

Hello again, today I’ve found another one of God’s promises for us, I think its wonderful how God will give us stacks and stacks of promises in his word, all at the same time!

“having been buried with him in baptism, in which you were also raised with him through faith in the powerful working of God, who raised him from the dead. And you, who were dead in your trespasses and the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive together with him, having forgiven us all our trespasses, by canceling the record of debt that stood against us with its legal demands. This he set aside, nailing it to the cross. He disarmed the rulers and authorities and put them to open shame, by triumphing over them through the cross.” (Colossians 2:12-15)

I think it is amazing how now since we were baptized through Christ(I do think Christians should be baptized but don’t have to be, look at the thief on the cross which Jesus saved, the crosses were not more than likely stacked in a group right beside each other but probably a certain distance away) and now have eternal life through him!

And not only that but now we are completely and entirely forgiven of our sins! Not through what we have done but through what Christ the risen savior has done!

 You are loved!

promise eight

Today I found another promise in God’s word! It was in Colossians chapter 2 verse 11, which says: “In him also you were circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, by putting off the body of the flesh, by the circumcision of Christ,”  (Colossians 2:11)

Don’t you just think it’s wonderful?  Jesus was cut off so that we could be made free and blameless.

Please feal free to share your own promises and comments.

promise seven

Today I read in Colossian chapter 1 verses 21-22 which says

And you, who once were alienated and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his body of flesh by his death, in order to present you holy and blameless and above reproach before him,  (Colossians 1:21-22)

Isn’t it amazing that Jesus has made us right before God through His death?  We were so awful, but Jesus has changed us through His death and resurrection.

I hope this has benefited you
 You are loved.

promise six

Hello, today I read in Colossian chapter 1 again, and I found one of God’s promises for us; it was in verses 13-14.

He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son, in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. (Colossians 1:13-14)

I personaly just think it is AMAZING that we are rescued from the dominion of darkness and that we have redemption through Christ Jesus and we have forgiveness of sins not through what we do but through Jesus.  What do you think?

Please feal free to post your own promises and thoughts here.

You are loved.

promise five

Lately I’ve finished 1 and 2 Timothy and now I am in Colossians.  I apologize for not posting in a while but here is the latest promise I’ve found.

since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love that you have for all the saints, because of the hope laid up for you in heaven. Of this you have heard before in the word of the truth, the gospel,
(Colossians 1:4-5)

I belive this means that if we believe in the gospel then we will have faith in Jesus, love for other Christians, and hope for a future with Jesus.  I like this.

Please feel free to post your own opinons and promises.

You are loved.

promise four

Today, I read in 1 Tim chapter 6 and found one of God’s many promises for us in verse 6, which says (in the NIV version)”But godliness with contentment is great gain.”

There is a “gospel” out there called the “prosperity gospel” which basically states that by coming to Jesus you will become wealthy and that if you just have faith you can “name it and claim it” anything you want because Jesus wants His people to be happy and have what they want.  Now God does want us to be joy-filled, but that doesn’t mean that we get all the money or stuff that we want.

The prosperity “gospel” however is nothing compared to the true Gospel, which says that Jesus died and resurrected in three days.  According to the real gospel, we have Jesus who is our Treasure.  We can be content in Him (The Lord is my Shepherd I am not in want…Psalm 23) and this is great gain to us!

promise three

1 Timothy chapter five verse 17 (in NIV) says “The elders who direct the affairs of the church well are worthy of double honor, especially those whose work is preaching and teaching.”

I believe for us today this is saying that people such as the pastors or elders (if their lives match their talk, and if their talk is upright) are richly blessed with the Holy Spirit, and we should be respectful and thankful for them.

Please state your own thoughts.

change from normal

Today when I was reading, one part of a chapter, stood out to me. In 1 Timothy chapter 4, verses 12-16, which says “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set and example for the believers in speech,in life,in love,in faith and in purity. Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture,to preaching and to teaching. Do not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. Be diligent in these matters;give yourself wholly to them,so that everyone may see your progress. watch your life and doctrine closely, preserve in them, because if you do, you will both save yourself and your hearers.”

I believe this is teaching us that while there is nothing really wrong with kids being in Sunday School while the parents go to the actual sermon;  it is not what is best because while the parents hear and learn and get to experience the power of God, the kids are stuck playing around with toys and singing little songs.  I believe that parents and their children should both go to the sermon, and both should interact as it says in verse 13 “Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture,”   Unless the children are brought in with the parents the parents alone will be the ones who are getting the privilege to read to the church and the children will be left out.  I don’t think God wants the children to be left out.  Here is a great video on this topic of how children can be useful to God

Children are able to pray, interact and participate at church this is why I go to an intereactive church called OVC; it is God exalting, Christ-centered  and joy filled; it is a place where both kids and parent get to read and be a part of the church.

How often do you read the bible?

You are loved!
