OK, so It’s a not a real battle seeing as God is pulling all the strings and can crush you in a second… But if we refuse to give glory to God and him alone, we are in essence putting ourselves above God and saying we don’t need him:
Shall the axe boast over him who hews with it, or the saw magnify itself against him who wields it? As if a rod should wield him who lifts it, or as if a staff should lift him who is not wood! (Isa 10:15)
Those are some hard questions… Should the saw or the sawyer be praised for the fire wood? Should the walking stick be praised or the walker for walking all that distance? Hmm, that’s a real toughy; I’d have to say the Axe is without a doubt more important than the creator and wielder of the Axe, wouldn’t you? … In reality, when you choose to do something (anything) without God on your side, that is in essence what you’re saying… That the Axe is more important than the wielder. We exist on Earth for one real reason; and that reason is to serve God will all our heart, soul and mind! That’s not to say we can do other things, but without that we don’t have purpose to our life, just look at the number of suicides committed each year! … In 2001 that number was 30,622 actual deaths, and 400,000 emergency room visits from self afflicted injuries. And the number of suicides grows by about 175,000 a year… There is a reason for that! It’s because they no longer have a purpose in life.
Everyone has a “void” inside of them self that can only be filled by Jesus (the) Christ… And when we refuse him, or refuse to speak for him in a position where God is clearly trying to tell us to stand up and say something for him, or when we refuse to listen to a rebuke, we are in essence saying; “God, I don’t need you, I’m perfectly fine on my own thank you very much, bye-bye.” And believe me, that’s not something you want to be saying to God almighty.
In summary: We are just tools of God… We are meant to praise and worship God with all our self, and we are meant to do whatever he tells us to when he tells us to do it! That’s a lot harder than it sounds… Just for the record, I don’t mean to make Christians sound like drones with the sole purpose of “serving the master”, we aren’t! God gave us imaginations just like everyone else, it’s just we tend to use them in a different way than most…
You are loved!
