This is what God gave me today in his word:
Shake yourself from the dust and arise; be seated, O Jerusalem; loose the bonds from your neck, O captive daughter of Zion. For thus says the LORD: “You were sold for nothing, and you shall be redeemed without money.”For thus says the Lord GOD: “My people went down at the first into Egypt to sojourn there, and the Assyrian oppressed them for nothing. (Isaiah 52:2-4)
Interesting isn’t it? We say we’re just going down into sin for a little while, just to get a small taste. We say we’ll just “sojourn” there for a while. And we end up being captured and staying there under oppression for years on end. And for what cost? None what so ever, we went there willingly. And as such we can’t be redeemed with things such as “silver or gold”, but only with the precious blood of Jesus.
18 For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your ancestors, 19 but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1 Peter 1:18-19)
So the question is simple; what is salvation worth to you? Cain sold his “birth-right” which for us, as Children of God is as good as our salvation for bread and soup.
Then Jacob gave Esau some bread and some lentil stew. He ate and drank, and then got up and left. So Esau despised his birthright. (Genesis 25:34)
So what’s you’re salvation through Jesus Christ worth to you? How highly to you withhold the Cross of Christ?
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)
8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. (Romans 5:8)
That’s how much Christ loved us; unto death. How highly do you hold your salvation now? Do you still consider it not worth anymore than a bowl of soup and some bread, or do you believe it to be the power of Christ unto salvation?
You are loved!
