This is what God gave me today in his word today:
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. (Ephesians 2:10)
“I’ve already made your bed, set your seat at the table, and bought you a surprise car!”
“But I didn’t even know I was coming until I arrived!”
Maybe our relationship with God isn’t quite like that. But I think it (the above conversation) help’s put things into perspective. – We may not have any idea why God may do something or other in our lives, but it’s all for a purpose; his plan for our lives. The (above) verse in Ephesians talks about the good works God has prepared for us to “walk in” i.e., to do, but I think he’s also to a certain extent talking about God’s “overall” plan for our life (lives). Which in all likely hood, does indeed involve the Spirit working in us to do “good deeds”. – But, returning to the topic, if Jesus has a plan for my life, does that mean by sinning I will be in fact only following God’s plan for my life?
3 Or don’t you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death? 4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life. (Romans 6:3)
No, God’s plan for our lives is not for us to sin. We have died to sin, and are now new creations in Christ. God made his plan for us known when he sent his son to die for our sins and to put his righteousness onto us; his plan for us is to live with him forever in Heaven and for us to praise him on Earth.
So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God. (1 Corinthians 10:31)
You are loved!
