The Power of God

19 Aug
Hello again!

Today we start the book of Romans! – This is what God gave me today in his word:

and was declared to be the Son of God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, (Romans 1:4)

Wait a minute, “Jesus was declared to be the son of God in power,”? What power is Paul referring to here? Well let’s look at one specific part of the above verse:

according to the Spirit of holiness by his resurrection from the dead,

But, surely, there can’t be any power in Jesus’ death and Resurrection! Yes, someone raising from the dead is absolutely extraordinary, but what real power is in it?

For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. (1 Corinthians 1:18)

The “power” Paul is referring to, is Christ’s resurrection from the dead; which is God’s power for salvation. – In fact, it’s the power that not only can declare Jesus to be a son of God, but it can also declare us to be one as well.

The point, quite simply, is that Jesus did in fact rise from the dead and  in doing so that  he saved us from eternity in Hell! More than that in fact, he made us co-heirs with himself!

You are loved!

I believe The Lord Jesus Christ is God, The Son of God, and The Messiah; as clearly taught in The Bible. The stakes are too high to be wrong about this.
