Transquotation: Genesis 7:22-23

09 Dec

Hello again!

This is what God gave me today in His word:

Verses:

Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. He blotted out every living thing that was on the face of the ground, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens. They were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those who were with him in the ark. (Genesis 7:22-23)

Transquotation:

Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. God will blot out every living thing that was on the face of the ground and not in the ark, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the heavens. They will be blotted out from the earth. Only Christ was left, and those who were with him in the wood.

Explanation of the transquote:

Those who cling to the wood, are those who live. Those who cling to Christ and the cross which He died on, are the ones who will be saved. — Please don’t misunderstand me, I don’t discount that all people will at some point bow the knee and confess Jesus as Lord. However, I wouldn’t really be willing to bet my soul (… So to speak) on it.

The point is: those who are in the wood; who are in the cross, are the ones saved from the flood. ‘The flood’ in this case, being both I suppose the Devil’s attacks and the end of the world.

So then, lets look once again for confirmation of the transquote in the New Testament and the context of the verse:

New Testament confirmation:

Since we have now been justified by his blood, how much more shall we be saved from God’s wrath through him! (Romans 5:9)

Context confirmation:

The waters prevailed above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep. And all flesh died that moved on the earth, birds, livestock, beasts, all swarming creatures that swarm on the earth, and all mankind. Everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died. (Genesis 7:20-22)

Again, these verses support that everyone not in the ark; not in the wood, was killed… Something which doesn’t mean all people won’t be saved, just that they’ll be drowning and lost until they are saved (assuming they will be).
